RVA Neighborhoods

Our real estate agents know buying a home isn't just about a home. It's about choosing a neighborhood. Picking the right one means entering the living history of a place you'll be proud to call home. When it comes to Richmond homes for sale, there truly are no wrong answers. Each of the six major communities throughout the Richmond Virginia Area ("RVA") has its own character and storied history.

Getting ready to move to the RVA in 2022? It can be tough to wrap your head around the options, so get started with our 2022 RVA Neighborhood Guide. Here, you'll get the facts you need to start exploring your favorite part of the RVA in earnest.

The RVA's unique neighborhoods include:

  • Hanover
Hanover is best known for its open spaces and brilliantly preserved history of America's colonial past all within close proximity to Hanover homes for sale. Move here and you'll be within minutes of some of Virginia's top parks and rivers. Hanover is home to some of Richmond's best local restaurants. It's also a terrific place to raise a family, thanks in no small part to the many theme parks and the social calendar stuffed with family-friendly fun.

  • Ashland
Located 15 miles north of Richmond, Ashland is undeniably a big part of the area's flavor. This small town sits at the crossroads of Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, Charlottesville, and Norfolk, making Ashland homes for sale a popular choice for the career-minded. Historic main street will delight you with its shops, restaurants, and breweries – and don't forget the historic campus of Randolph-Macon College.

  • New Kent
New Kent attracts visitors from all over the United States for its world-class accommodations and amenities. Here, you'll find some of the region's finest golf courses, vineyards, and historic venues for weddings. At the confluence of three grand rivers, it is a breathtaking base from which to experience Virginia's great outdoors. Golf, tennis, hiking, fishing, and boating are all popular activities near New Kent homes for sale.

  • Henrico
Replete with Richmond's densest collection of unique small restaurants, dotted with historic sites that have no parallel elsewhere in the U.S. These days, it is known as a quiet suburban area, with fantastic Henrico homes for sale, that combines easy access to the best of city living with a relaxed, rural flair owing to the local farmlands, vineyards, and bed and breakfasts.

  • City
The rich and diverse center of the RVA area is Richmond itself. It is packed with some of the leading art, music, and performance venues anywhere in the country along with the campus of the University of Virginia. Richmond is also a centerpiece of the craft brewery craze and has been home to dozens of America's greatest restaurants, many of which can still be found only here – where it all started.

  • Chesterfield
Chesterfield is framed by the James and Appomattox Rivers. Its southern border is defined by 3,000-acre Lake Chesdin. With a collection of more than 20 public parks and bursting with history everywhere you look, it is the kind of place where you feel like you can get away from it all – while still being a part of everything. Many choose Chesterfield homes for sale for that reason!

  • Tri-Cities
Just 20 miles south of central Richmond, the area around Colonial Heights homes for sale dates all the way back to colonial times. Besides the many historical destinations you can visit, the area is also home to the Southpark Mall, a modern shopping destination that gets visitors from across the Tri-Cities area. Further south you'll find Hopewell homes for sale and Petersburg homes for sale.

Our team is here to help you find the right place for you to call home! Ready to learn more? Contact us at Napier Realtors ERA to discover it all for yourself.
