Richmond has a vibrant culinary scene, and that means we always have new restaurants to try! Food halls are growing in popularity across the country, and there's one expected to open in the downtown area very soon.
Our real estate agents have passed by the building many times on their way to and from our Richmond homes for sale. With its grand opening so close on the horizon, let's take a closer look at this promising new dining destination.
The Location
The Hatch Local Food Hall is currently being set up at 400 Hull Street in Richmond, VA. When it's complete, it will feature a coffee bar, a full-service bar, and a lively local market. There are also plans for a space for outdoor dining and events. Patrons will be able to reserve the space ahead of time for occasions like birthday parties or corporate gatherings.
The Vendors
The hall is set to host seven local food establishments at first, including:
- Buttermilk + Honey by Mike Lindsey and Kimberley Love-Lindsey. This shop sells delectable fried chicken and southern sides. Their chicken sandwich is reported to be excellent, and they even offer gluten-free and vegan fried chicken options so everyone can enjoy their dishes.
- Oro by Laine Myers. This establishment is run by an award-winning chef and serves multi-regional Italian foods with a local twist. Their dishes incorporate fresh noodles and seasonal vegetables to create a bright and enticing array of pasta dishes.
- Sincero by Adam Bobadilla and Karen Negvesky. If you're hungry for some authentic Mexican cuisine, this restaurant is the place to go. Deliciously seasoned tacos, burritos, tostadas, and more are all on the menu here.
- Royal Pig by Vanna Hem and Adam Stull. This restaurant highlights the rich aromatic flavors of Cambodian comfort food, serving market-friendly favorites like coconut curries and beef skewers.
- Fat Kid Sandwiches by Jon Martin and Liz Clifford. Run by a couple with a passion for simple yet delicious dishes, this sandwich shop blends bar food staples with Italian and Southern influences to create an irresistible lunch menu.
- Odyssey Fish by Lee Gregory. This small shop adds something new to the lineup with casual yet sustainable seafood dishes you're sure to love. The menu was prepared by the same team who created the food at Alewife, a top local restaurant recently named Southern-Living's "Best Restaurant of the South" in 2020.
- The Beet Box by Ashley Lewis and Antione Meredith. A great stop for the health-conscious, this hip juice bar serves natural high-nutrition options like smoothie bowls, fresh-pressed juice, and gourmet toast.
